Future Camp is an idea generation exercise organized by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service; which addressing the hot social issues happening in Hong Kong. With engagement of the stakeholders across different sectors, including the professionals, social workers, business experts and the local communities, it attempts to find out concrete proposals for accomplishing in the immediate future.

Hong Kong's caregiver support is under-developed as compared to many modern cities. Especially for those who are taking care of family member with disabilities, the support has been far from adequate. Meanwhile, people with disabilities themselves are facing various types of employment challenges and have not been acquiring the attention they deserve in society. To address the issue, Future Camp@ 2019 focus on the themes of Employment Support to people with disabilities (PWDs) and Development of Caregiver Support.

While moving into public housing estates could deserve a huge celebration for some, the process is not problem-free. Adjusting to a totally new environment, plus the complication associated with schooling, childcare, work and social life could post certain threats to families. During the Future Camp@ 2017, titled Adjustment to New Public Rental Housing: Threats and Opportunities, the "future engineers" will brainstorm ideas and develop concrete solutions so as to help tackle the adjustment problems in relation to New Public Housing Estates in Hong Kong.

You must have encountered these situations but have you ever thought of combining innovation and technology in helping our elderly to solve their daily problems? The elderly lacks a user-friendly technology designed and specialized to alleviate their difficulties. How could we utilize the latest technology to help them in aspects of healthcare, eating, living and mobility? Are there also innovative business ideas with profound social impacts that can bring them convenience?

Ten years later, one people out of four in Hong Kong is senior citizen. According to the aging problem, our government is promoting "ageing in place as the core", but how could the elderly just simply enjoy their rest of life in home themselves? How could they settle their retired life physically and psychologically? Without the support from community, how could ageing in place be happened? What is the role of community support and how could the community support our senior citizens? Community care facilities? Community care service? Association form neighbourhood? Coumminty culture? Or they are the power of community themselves?

Future Camp “Bird Without Wings: the Development of Children at the Grassroots” was on July 23 with pre-camp Knowledge Outreaching sessions on July 15, 16 and 18. 101 participants from professional groups, civic groups, practitioners from welfare sector and frontline policy advocates are recruited and joined the futue camp to brainstorm 8 concrete solutions/ ideas and explore new directions to solve/ alleviate the problem of development of children at the grassroots in Hong Kong.

The event is sponsored by the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund. 91 participants from Social welfare sector, Business sector, Professional groups and Public joined the futue camp to brainstorm 7 concrete solutions/ ideas and to solve/ alleviate the burning housing problem in Hong Kong.
