Project Learnt is a social enterprise striving for the growth of social mobility of the underprivileged teenagers and the sustainable development of the surplus teachers. We make use of the idle time of a restaurant to run a co-learning space for students who need self-study places or academic support. Also, some of them would be hired as the restaurant staff to earn a living. Meanwhile, the surplus, pre-service teachers and private tutors are invited to provide on-site tuition to the students at the restaurants, so that they can enjoy the food and a comfortable learning environment and thus facilitate the learning and teaching of each other.
We cooperate with different restaurants and transform their idle time into an ideal space for co-learning, so that both the students who need academic support and teachers with teaching experiences can utilize and benefit from it.
We welcome all students who need self-study places or academic support to study at the co-learning space and some students would be hired as part-time staff of the restaurant to earn a living. After understanding the needs of the students, we match the experienced surplus, pre-service teachers or private tutors with them by inviting them to provide on-site tuition to the students at the restaurants.
We are now having trial run in a café and hope to spread this business model to other restaurants.
