Silver Innovators Competition 2017-18

At present, one out of seven Hong Kong people is aged 65 or above. This ratio will further increase to about one in three by 2041. How Hong Kong can leverage on innovation method to properly cope with the ageing population is of paramount concern.

Supported by Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund (SIE Fund), our Council will be launching the  "Silver Innovators' Competition" on October 25, 2017. The competition is sponsored by the Hong Kong Bank Foundation, and supported by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP).

- The first thematic competition in Hong Kong with an aim to encourage and promote innovative ideas to address the needs for elderly persons
- 8 winners will be selected finally to receive up to HKD200,000 seed money to realize their idea proposals
- The competition will open to both general public and interested parties such as social entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs, NGO practitioners, etc.

There will be 4 pre-competition workshops with competition briefing from November 15 to December 15.

Workshop (1) - Social Technology
Content: Trials on 3D Printing Technology to learn the integration of technology with social business

Workshop (2) - Down to Community
Content: Guided tour to experience the livelihood of elderly and in-depth learning of their current needs

Content: Enjoy the performance of Men in Jazz and basic skill training to appreciate Western Art pieces

Content: Interact with latest social entrepreneurs to understand how to initiate social innovation project related to elderly
