'So-Biz' Project is now available for application

In view of the demographic change and aging population in Hong Kong, market demand is changing rapidly and new opportunities in the market follow. According to the projection from Census and Statistics Department of Hong Kong Government, 1 in every 5 citizens in Hong Kong will be aged 65 or above thirteen years later. Figures also show that senior citizens, people with disabilities and ethnic minorities account for 12.4%, 5.2% and 5% of Hong Kong population respectively. Companies, regardless of its scale, would benefit by understanding their needs, concerns and difficulties.

The 'So-Biz' Project of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service is funded by the SME Development Fund of the Trade and Industry Department of HKSAR Government and supported by the Hong Kong Retail Management Association, the Equal Opportunities Commission, business associations, universities and NGOs, helping merchants explore this niche market. By promoting the idea of “Shop Freely; Serve Friendly” and “barrier-free” customer service to SMEs and social enterprises, the Project also aims at enhancing the quality of customer service in Hong Kong as well as the competitiveness of participating merchants, with the mission to build an inclusive community.
